Minority Owned Businesses Disproportionately Impacted by the Visa/MasterCard Settlement

All businesses in the U.S. who transacted Visa or MasterCard payments between January 1, 2004 to January 25, 2019 are impacted by the historic $5.54B settlement, but minority owned businesses are unfairly impacted. Minority business owners lack the access to traditional financing and banking opportunities, and this is amplified when it comes to accessing class action settlements.

On average less than 10% of people participate in settlements and can you take a guess at what percentage of those are minorities? In general we know that those who are participating are older, English speaking individuals and unfortunately minorities and non English speakers get the worst end of the stick.

The CARE team is dedicated to changing the class action landscape by educating the public on settlement news and helping every day minority owned businesses and individuals file claims in class action settlements. Our goal is to increase engagement in minority communities so people from these underrepresented communities can receive the money they are owed from settlements.

Disclaimer: Claim forms are available online at www.paymentcardsettlement.com. Class members need not sign up for a third-party service in order to recover their share of the settlement. No-cost assistance is available from the Class Administrator and Class Counsel. Find more information on the Court-approved settlement website: www.paymentcardsettlement.com
